FlightNight - 20 Sept 2025 - Operation Market / Market Garden
Good evening all!
Our good friend and FGUK'er, Actor, came up with the fabulous idea of us doing a flight in honour of Operation Market Garden.
To try and do our bit we will recreate, as well as we can, Operation Market - the flying portion of the op.
I've done my best to recreate the route from the original guidance maps, as held by the Imperial War Museum.
We will be flying the slightly shorter southerly route, as it's less time over water, but then heading up to the northern route's IP.
Manston (EGMH) will be our starting point, before going out to Point Borneo, Catalina and then on to half time break before continuing via both IPs to our Arnhem drop zone.
For scenery gathering the route will be:
EGMH
EBOS
EBBR (Half time)
EHEH
EHTL ( End)
Aircraft will be your choice of DC3 (YASIM only please) from the main hangar. Or the DaVinci Mosquito which, for our purposes, will be the pathfinders.

I'd STRONGLY recommend everyone gives the DC-3 a go.
Even if you don't normally like flying things like that it's a really nice docile flight model, great visuals and very atmospheric. I think if you're considering NOT flying it you'd probably really enjoy just giving her a try
