FlightNight 03 Jan 2026 - New Year New You
Hello FGUKers
With the new year comes inevitable idiots trying to improve themselves on short-lived quests that they have no intention of keeping up with, and, to that end, let's try and get everyone's airmanship skills up a notch or two, shall we?
This week, we shall be bettering ourselves by doing some good old-fashioned Radio Navigational skills!
Navigating by VOR and using an Instrument Landing System is as good a way as any to start doing that, so that is what we're going to practice this week.
Our route will be suitably convoluted to keep us able to double-check our own positions, and we hope we end up where we want.
There will be no "what's our GPS/FMS heading" - you're going to be given a frequency, and sticking it in your Nav1 box will give you the heading you need.
You can bring ANY FGUK aircraft you wish, as long as you're happy it can do radio nav. Speed required will be 110kts at 5,000ft, and weather will be LIVE
Routing:
EGHF
SAM
ODH
OCK
BIG
EGKK - Half Time
CPT
BSO
DTY
HON
EGBB
There's a file here with a flight plan, as well as a Nav Log giving the routing (and the frequencies) needed for the night:

If you don't know what to fly then the Aero Commander is an excellent choice. I'll make some more suggestions and give some examples of how to test during the week - I would do it now, but my FG is helpfully not loading.
Look forward to seeing you there at 2000 GMT / 2100 CET / 1300 Mountain / 2200 SAST / 1400 CST
Comms will be on TeamSpeak
