As I was trying to suggest on Saturday night and managed to give everyone the wrong link to there is a "Missions" addon generator (not Mission generator) that has a more of a GUI and seems quite easy to expand.
It's not taken off in the way it might have done as I think it probably is competing with WBragg's mission addon but if anyone wants to play with either the data or the interface it might be a start:

Same problem I had at first. All the model entries are like
<model type="string">AI/EGOD-Timed-Loops/Mach-Loop/startmarker.xml</model>
which is a relative path to a non-existent folder (EGOD-Mach-Loop.xml is already in data/AI/
I just swapped all AI/EGOD occurrences to EGOD and it then worked for me
