Supermarine Swift FR.5
Hi All,
After years of wanting to give this thing a bit of a spruce up, Stuart and I have been working hard on it for the past few months.
It's got a brand new YASim FDM which we've tuned carefully to mimic the performance figures given in the pilots notes. It now can be used as it should and, if you pay attention, is a joy to fly.
The gauges have been updated with new ones that are correct for the era, it has a Ferranti-style gunsight that acts as it should and, in the future, will be upgraded with all the features it should have but for now is a nice visual element.
Fuel burn should be spot on, as is cruise and low level performance.
Take off is accurate as well, hold the nosewheel back at 105kts and as she builds speed it'll fly right off the ground smoothly. On approach aim for 150-160kts and touchdown at 140.
I've also put in a "catchup" facility I'm trialling, ideal for flightnights. When there's an MP aircraft within 100nm just take off, get to 50ft at least and click catchup from the Swift menu, select the aircraft you are trying to catch up with and hit the button, it'll put you 500m behind with the autopilot on following the aircraft's track. Disengage it and take control to maintain the course and it should avoid any long catchup flights after a sim crash or your untimely death.
