FlightNight 23rd May 2026 - Daring do - the adventures of Beegles!
Hello FGUKers
This week we shall be embarking on a tale of excitement and rescue.
Our intrepid hero, Beegles, has been tipped off that some thoroughly awful people have kidnapped one of his best friends, Percy.
Thankfully his friends at the ministry of air have tracked Percy down to a hut on a beach in France.
Beegles, and any willing helpers, is going to the channel Islands with much haste to mount a rescue mission.
The first half of the flightnight will see us leave from Alderney and fly across to the French mainland, keeping out the sight of the ruffians, to rescue Percy from the beach through some landing on Sand at Sables D'or Les-Pins:
48.64398311301669, -2.407693209858271 (if you want to practice)
We shall then go on to St Nazaire where we'll have half time and catch up with our friend Percy.
After that the second half will see us take a bit of a jolly down the Loire valley and finish at Moulins.
Start time will be 8pm UK time, all comms to be via teamspeak and we shall be flying the Mosquito but you could probably also bring the BF110 if you fancied? Speeds will be between 280kts and 320kts
Flight Plan available here:
Teamspeak details can be found here: https://forum.fguk.me/discussion/283/new-teamspeak3-server-details#latest

Comments
Is that Biggles second cousin ?
For legal reasons there are no similarities or links to anyone.
AI Is getting too flipping clever these days.
All aviators:
There has been an update to the Mosquito linked earlier in this post, there were some errors which needed resolving - especially for those on a *nix system of some sort.
Fixes:
Added missing sounds
Resolved case sensitive paths that meant some aircraft parts weren't showing
Recalibrated the ASI however it is still rather wildly out, the gauge was done with an interpolation table and update rate that doesn't quite follow being able to keep up with the visual scale so it's a bit of a guesstimate and normally about 40 kts (from the right value converted from the visible MPH) out. Use it at your peril.
It's also got a tweaked FDM by Stuart, we needed to put in the prop speed fix that VooDoo found for the Spitfire so it was a good time to tweak some other areas and bring it a bit closer to the real values.

Install and enjoy
Stunning scenery as always, Oly. France really does show FG off to it's best.
Beegles did a quick recce over the beach we're to land at to check there's enough sand to accommodate us all. I'd really recommend everyone flies with Orthos ON and water effects OFF to get the best out of this flight.
Thank you, to everyone who turned up last night. It was a great evening and I hope you all enjoyed it.
