New download & compile install on Linux - nasal seems to have issues.
Hi all,
Today I ran through the default "download and install" installation on a recently rebuilt Linux Mint laptop. Bear in mind I've not run FGFS in over a year, maybe two, so thought a completely fresh install would be good. I ended up with FGFS version 2024.1.7
Tried the FGUK Lightning T Mk. 5, which worked fine last time I used it. But had the following errors, repeated many times:

Any ideas? Are there any new known bugs in FGFS? Or has there been a change in Nasal that means the aircraft models need some updating? Or is it must my install?
Cheers, Scott.

Comments
Hello Scott,
I am currently running Flightgear 2024.1.7 on Linux Mint 22.3 using the appimage from the flightgear website (not the download and compile install like you have done) and I do not have any issues with nasal on my system. One issue that I have ran into before that has prevented parts of planes working was with their main folder or subfolders not being case matched to where they are referenced in the plane's XML files so maybe check that as Linux is case sensitive.
Other than that, another thing I can think of is fgdata not matching the version of flightgear you are using or being corrupted so a reinstall may be a good idea. This could also explain why even the default Cessna which comes with fgdata is not working correctly (unless you had copied this from a previous installation).
Also check that the nasal files referenced in the errors are actually in those folders and aren't missing.
Best of luck fixing it,
MAV44
Thank you MAV44, this was a totally fresh laptop rebuild, so nothing was copied over from an old install. I think i will do as you suggest and have a go at re-installing FGFS. I'd like to try the Download and Install again, but failing that, you've said the appimage works, so I can try that.
I checked the Nasal folder, I wrote a lot of of the Lightning Nasal files..
The case matching issue I think comes about when a develop uses Windows, as Windows doesn't seem to be case-sensitive, but when you run that code on Linux it fails to work as it is more case sensitive..
Many thanks for your help, Scott..
