ATC Practice
Hi, if anyone does ATC and is willing to maybe practice with me and teach me on a small GA airfield or something like that, that'd be awesome cause I'm a complete beginner :)
Thx for any help,
Cyber

I would recommend checking out these guys . . .

They do VFR flights in Light Aircraft - over VATSim
FlightGear and VATSIM: https://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=32089
See especially:

Bear in mind that flights around small GA airfields that are outside controlled airspace are often outside the scope of ATC. But there are set radio procedures (see above).
Thank you for the recommendations, I just recently started reading the AIM chapters 4 and 5 which are specifically about ATC.
Very early in FGUK's existence, during the emergence of FlightNight, there were numerous incidents where ATC would set them selves up at airports we were to overfly and demand to control the airspace which doesn't work well with the FlightNight "free for all" atmosphere. Some areas/Airports (like Frankfurt) ended up being off limits for FlightNight adventures because local ATC got abusive if you entered their airspace or spawned at Frankfurt.

Also, much of the early interaction between FGUK Pilots and ATC was pretty tense especially when local ATC popped up just in time to "take charge" of the FlightNight Airspace and make unreasonable commands that our aircraft were simply not capable of doing - like telling an aircraft to maintain an altitude and airspeed that was ridiculous for that type.
There's good and competent ATC in Flight Gear and there are Bullies who just want to control others and their flight. Be careful who and which type you fall in with and learn from.

Thank you VooDoo I completely understand, that's exactly the reason why I didn't wanna start with VATSIM just yet as I'd probably get raged at cause I'm a newbie. But maybe VATSIM isn't all like that? Cause I saw some YT videos where ATCs are accepting of minor errors and are ready to correct you. Then again I understand that fg has a completely different system. What do you think?

Never done VATSIM nor acted as an ATC controller in FGFS. I hear that the VATSIM folks are pretty serious about procedure and skills and try (demand) that everything be done to protocol and procedure - by the book. Virtually all of the FGFS ATC I have dealt with have been spoiled children who want to control someone else's flight/agenda.
Does Jomo still run regular ATC nights at Frankfurt anymore? Anybody know? If so that would be a good place to start if you can.

VATSIM controllers are pretty much controlled themselves. For example , they cannot "control" anyone who is outside of controlled airspace. Like all humans, they are fallible. But if you point something out to them they will normally back off. It's not worth losing their "ticket" over it - especially if they are in the wrong.
Thank you for your insights guys.
