BAC Jet Provost/Strikemaster

Just wondering if there is a JP/Strikemaster aircraft in deveolopment or in the archive.

Very interested this aircraft and have been collecting information and found an Alphasim model used on FSX etc.

  • The one we have in Dev currently looks like this so I'd say if you've got one then crack at it, happy to help where needed.

  • Thanks for the reply, would love to have a look what you have and compare to the model I found

  • I've chucked what I've got in an email. Good luck!

Oly2b emailed me regarding the JP T Mk. 5 project, so I have made available all of the documentation I have on the T Mk. 5, other Mk's to follow soon. See the RTFM Library:

Expand the Codified tree to AP 101B-2305 for all the goodies:

  • Great stuff - thank you, Scott!

    Its a pleasureto help.

One interesting avionics feature I read about last night in the manuals was a 15 kHz modulation on the spoken audio transmitted by VHF/UHF. This modulation was applied when three greens were lit (undercarriage locked down) and a speed switch was made (below certain speed, to be found in manuals).

I am making an assumption now, but the control tower may have had a demodulator linked to a warning lamp so when a JP pilot was talking to them on approach, they would know if all three legs were locked down or not. I also imagine a 15 kHz notch filter would be applied to the headsets of the control tower to block this tone (high pitch squeal).

  • Hi Scott

Many thanks for sharing your resources for this interesting little jet.

  • Hi Scott

I had a quite scan of the documents and it will help a lot (need to position airbrakes/spoilers correctly - out of place during model converts).

Panel layouts and orginal guages etc

    Many thanks

    Craig

  • Between the Spitfire, Swift and Vulcan there's probably enough gauges for you there to make a good representation of the cockpit without it being too arduous and it can always be fine tuned later.

    It's a pleasure to help.

    I'm presently adding the T Mk.3 / 3A info..

I have found that not only was there a radio warning to the control tower of undercarriage up for landing, but also a flashing lamp on the nose too (little one above main taxi lamp). Also turns out I have a flasher unit from this very lamp sat here at home, so if you wanted to add this detail, I can get yo the flashing frequency.

I've just been through the airframe circuit diagrams (AP 101B-2303-10) - it's such a simple jet compared to the Lightning! I could in the future model the circuits too without much stress, same as I did for the Lightning, but a lot less code!

    Cheers, Scott.

  • I found I also have some images of JP instruments, I believe form a Mk.3 / 3A

    Cheers, Scott.

  • It'll take me a couple more weeks to process them, but I have more JP manuals to share to the RTFM library too.

We now have published under AP101B-2303 and 2304:

T Mk. 3 - Topic 3A (illustrated parts catalogue) - good illustrations of throttle levers, control column, instrument panels etc..

T Mk. 3 - Topic 10 (electrical servicing diagrams) - nice cockpit panel annotated image

T Mk. 3A - Topic 15 (aircrew manual) - brilliant for getting to grips with the aircraft systems, and source of operating data.

T Mk. 4 - Topic 1 (general and technical info)

More JP manuals to come including pilot's notes, aircrew manual, and instructors handbook.

    Cheers, Scott.

  • Cracking stuff, Scott. Much appreciated.

  • Once again many thanks for this information and data
