Steep learning curve - finially getting to gets with AC3D (modify aircraft and started drawing object from new).

Problem I am having is whatever I try I cannot get a panel to display in FG (transplanted Gloster Metor in), please can you advise why nother is working regard panel display.

Problem two initial view from cockpit my edits make no difference.

Problem three glass in canopy and windscreen (canopy glass object deleted so I could see out)

  • Deeply regret well beyond my knowledge, It's going to be up there with the best though, keep at it Oly2b!

  • Stuart and I had a look at this. I think the issue is the panel isn't called from anywhere. I can see that interior.xml exists and panel.xml exist but they aren't called from within the model file.

The bit that is called is remmed out.

Is it these ones you are trying to call from the model file/folder?

Try this.....the interior needs to be scaled if it is the correct one as it's way too small. I fixed the .amb values in the model - what happened to the texture mapping? Where did you get the model? Was it converted from another format to .ac?

That would be likely where you lost all of your objects and textures. Can you post the original and I'll have a look. In the present state, it's going to be a giant PITA to make this work like you want it to. Getting the textures back and cutting it into bits to get ailerons, flaps, rudder, gear parts, etc. will take a lifetime. It can be done but not by a novice. I'll help any way I can but we gotta start over with the model file.

  • I have removed the textures to simplify things, colouring the moving bits as working on each one in turn then return to white when working.

To date rudder, elevator, ailerons working correctly but hit problems with the flaps, tried both methods (port x1-x2 for the axis and axis/centre on starboard flap) and getting lost with the values to use i.e. xyz in ac3d is not the same in the xml file.

You can see right flap nearly correct but the left total screw up. I know the canopy still to do, it rotates and not sliding, located a Harrier which works in similar manor to the JP and I am going to copy the method and see if it works. The rudder, elevator and ailerons did not take much to get working.

    This my aircraft

Been gathering gauges and modeling the panel (been testing gauges out on the vampire as nothering appears in the JP).

I tried using the code for the Gloster Meteror with this model as a test so far. The Gloster cockpit as recently appeared in front and to the side of the nose.

If you could have a look and see what I am doing wrong.

PS the model is ex FSX converted to AC3D and still has alot of nodes/children etc been merging them as a go to get a simpler model tree as FGUK aircraft.

  • PS the link is to my current aircraft as of this afternoon

  • BAC-JetProvost_T5.zip

Fixed the flaps as well as I can - note the code/parameter in the model.xml. The flaps (the aircraft) are not symmetrical - so, the right-flap does not animate like the left-flap does. This needs to get fixed before you continue. Your objects are not the same from left to right. Gaad knows why.

  • If I might suggest - starting with the shell and working inwards ?

  • Shell?

  • LOL....

  • Many thanks Voodoo for looking at my efforts and sorting the flaps out. The flaps are what came with the model and I don't know why they are different unless I selected vertices and dragged them by mistake.

Made some progress yesterday, know got the Model/Interior/Panel relationship sorted and now have a panel and gauges visible.

    Todo list

    Canaopy sliding open animation

    airbrakes/lift spoiler animation

Windshield/canopy glass to be invisable (see through)

    Make the liveries selectable

    FMD etc

  • The model is ex FSX converted to Blender then AC3D.

I have about 20 livery sets but no permission to use yet.

  • Sounds like good progress is being made, mate. Keep on it!
